Why I Read Blogs

I appreciate the diversity of God’s creation and how others appreciate what He has made.

It’s pretty neat to see a snapshot of someone else’s life or thoughts – usually there is value added (even if it is just considering and rejecting an idea).

When I truly follow a blog (i.e. actively looking forward to new content such that it is on my to-do list to read), I value and look for new perspectives on the following:

  • Wisdom
  • Outfit ideas
  • Brand & item reviews
  • Helpful tips
  • Encouragement
  • General information sharing
  • Experiential sharing
  • Authenticity

However, there are some things that I hate and try to avoid:

  • Shameless self promotion (i.e. 50 pictures in the same outfit)
  • Arrogance & fake humility
  • Vulgarity
  • Name dropping
  • Unkindness
  • Vanity & NO substance
  • Bad English & unnecessary words

I get that for many it is a business…but for me, the Bible is clear on speech.  Guard your speech, preserve your life.  Speech that is verbal, written or even mental -> one reaps what is sown.  Bitter words = bitter fruit.  Sweet words = sweet fruit.

Also –  nothing digital is ever deleted…it is waiting somewhere for a subpoena from someone!  🙂

Note to self -> Anything that needs to be said, can be said nicely.

Adrian Rogers, via radio broadcast of a sermon long after his death, said that is why we have two ears and one mouth – quick to hear and slow to speak.  Listen, think, then speak…
